What happens in episode 1
The bet starts on a golf course, with a grudge that is ten years old. A husband has lost every round to his wife’s sister, Diana Demont, and he is trying to play differently this time. Diana tells him his grip is off and that it will bite him on the seventh hole, then offers to fix the swing herself.
The wife is riding in the cart with Diana, which leaves the two of them to play the round. They trade jabs about who lets whom win, and the husband insists the wife thinks he loses on purpose. Diana says that if she did it on purpose, she would lose better. She steps in close to show him the correction, and the banter gets warmer.
By the end the two of them agree to a new wager. They will play the next round for a forfeit, and the winner decides what the loser does. Diana makes it plain that she already knows what she wants, and that line is the hook for the second episode.
