Candy AI’s video generator makes a 5-second AI video of a moment in your chat, called a Scene Video. Each clip costs 12 tokens, and the feature is Premium-only. Premium’s 100 monthly tokens cover eight clips with 4 tokens left over. Candy Shorts is separate: pre-made vertical episodes you watch, not clips you order. Prices are in the pricing guide.
What a Scene Video is
A Scene Video is a clip of the moment you’re in a chat. You trigger it with the Video option in the scene bar, which sits beside Image. Candy presents it as watching the moment instead of reading it, and the clip runs five seconds.
The clip is tied to the exact moment in the conversation, and that is the point of the feature. Think of it as one short beat, not a long scene. If you want a still of the same moment instead, the AI image guide covers that route. For the chat side, read the AI girlfriend chat guide.
What a free account sees when it taps Video
On a free account, tapping Video in a chat opens an upgrade prompt. The prompt lists AI video creation as a Premium feature, next to custom AI girls, unlimited text messages, removing image blur and 100 tokens a month.
Two things follow. You can’t preview a Scene Video on a free account, and the prompt shows where the feature sits in the plan. The screenshot here is that prompt, not a sample clip. I didn’t see a finished clip on a free account, so don’t expect one from the free side.
The prompt is short, and it names the plan that unlocks the feature. That is more useful than a sample you can’t act on.
The token math: eight clips from 100 tokens
A Scene Video costs 12 tokens. Premium gives you 100 tokens a month, so eight clips cost 96 tokens and leave 4. A ninth clip would need 108, which is more than the allowance.
The same tokens pay for locked Shorts episodes. A 36-token series fits inside one month’s allowance, while a 90-token Creators series nearly uses it up. Premium gives you the tokens, and each locked episode costs what its series says.
| Spend | Tokens | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| One Scene Video | 12 | One 5-second clip |
| Eight Scene Videos | 96 | Eight clips, 4 tokens left |
| One 36-token series | 36 | A full series of locked episodes |
| One 90-token Creators series | 90 | Nearly the whole monthly allowance |
So a month of clips means fewer episodes, and the reverse is true too. Decide which you want more before the month starts. Token top-ups are a Premium-member thing: a free account is redirected away from the token store, and I did not check the top-up prices.
How Candy Shorts differs from the generator
Candy Shorts are pre-made, episodic vertical videos. Episodes run 9:16 and typically last 40 to 120 seconds, with English subtitles. Many series are dubbed into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese, and you can change playback speed from 0.5x to 2x.
Candy has 903 episodes across 156 series, and 287 of them are free. The average free episode runs about 65 seconds, which is roughly thirteen Scene Videos laid end to end. Where a series has free episodes, episode 1 plays without an account and episode 2 needs a free account. If you finish an episode and want a clip of the lead, the chat is where you make it.
People also search for CandyShorts as one word. It means the same series. Start with the free episodes guide if you want to see what is open before you pay, or the series hub for the full list.
Who should pay for clips, and who should watch
If you want a clip of a character you’ve been chatting with, the generator is the feature to try. Read the chat on a free account first, then decide whether 12 tokens a clip is worth it to you. The cheapest test is one clip, which costs the same 12 tokens whatever the moment is.
If you mostly want episodes, the tokens go further on locked episodes. Thirty-six tokens is the most common price to finish a series in the catalog, so one month of Premium can cover a complete series. A simple rule helps: if you would pay 12 tokens to see a moment, make the clip; if you would pay the same tokens for a whole story, watch the series.
Start free. If you get through more than one series a month, the annual plan at $3.99 a month is the cheapest route in.
What I could not confirm about video
I could not confirm what the wider Generate 18+ Videos benefit includes beyond the Scene Video. Candy lists it as a Premium benefit, but I only checked the Scene Video route. I also did not confirm whether a clip can be downloaded, its resolution, or any per-video price other than the 12 tokens.
Read Candy’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines before you generate anything. Candy publishes both, along with its age rules and a Content Removal Policy.
The honest test is simple. Open a free chat, tap Video once and read the prompt. It tells you what Premium is asking for, and that answers most of the question before you spend anything.
Four mistakes to avoid before you buy
Four mistakes are easy to make, given the token math above:
- Expecting a free preview. The free account shows the prompt, not a clip.
- Spending the allowance too early. Eight clips use 96 of the 100 tokens, which leaves almost nothing for a locked episode.
- Forgetting the renewal. Premium renews automatically at the same price and term, so put the date in your calendar.
- Assuming Shorts and clips are the same thing. Shorts are pre-made episodes. A Scene Video is one five-second moment from your chat.
Strengths
- Clips are tied to the exact moment in your chat.
- The price per clip is fixed at 12 tokens, so budgeting is simple.
- Premium covers AI video, custom characters and unlimited texting in one plan.
- Shorts give you longer pre-made episodes, and most series open with free ones.
Limits
- Scene Videos run five seconds, so they are short.
- Eight clips use 96 of the 100 monthly tokens, leaving almost nothing for locked episodes.
- A free account sees only the upgrade prompt, so you can’t preview a clip first.
