What happens in episode 1
Episode 1 introduces the street. Candy Lane is a place where the husbands and dads are out for most of the working day, and the plumber runs one simple rule: a flag up means the women on the street need help.
The first call is Harriet, the plumber’s brother’s wife, who has a leaking kitchen pipe. He checks the fitting under the sink. She says her brother is not much good with anything mechanical, and she insists she put the fitting on tight, so the leak must have worked loose on its own.
The repair gets messy and the conversation gets flirtatious. By the end the sink is sorted, and she closes the episode by telling him he has done the sink and now needs to come and see to her. That closing line is the hook for episode 2.
Standout beatThe sink gets fixed, and then she asks him to “come see to me.” That one request is the whole episode.
