What happens in episode 1
Episode 1 opens with Owen describing the pill he bought for $500 and what it has done to him. He is wired, a little unsteady, and convinced the pill was the best decision he has made. He feels like he has a power that nobody else knows about.
His life pulls him in several directions at once. Someone reminds him that rent is due and asks him to settle it by Friday. He is distracted, and he flirts awkwardly with the person asking. Then a follow-up appointment comes up, and he has already missed it.
The episode is built on the gap between how well he thinks he is doing and how the people around him see him. He keeps watching them, and the effect keeps growing in the background.
The free part ends on day two of the effect, with a warning that the pill is not finished with him. Episode 1 plays without an account, and episode 2 is free with a sign-up.
