What happens in episode 1
Danny opens with a confession: three weeks ago he slept with a stranger in Cabo, and he has never done anything like it before. Tonight she opened his best friend’s front door. That is the first shock, and the second is that the stranger is the friend’s stepmom, Marisa.
They make a rule on the spot: no names, no numbers. Marisa is cooking, and someone tells Danny to relax. The friend asks her to be nice to Danny.
Alone for a moment, they go back to Cabo. Marisa says she told her sister about him without a name to give, and that her husband can never find out. Danny has overthought it every night for three weeks, and he still can’t stop thinking about that night.
The episode ends on small domestic business: a gray hoodie in the dresser, and a line telling him he is staring again, just like in Cabo. The last line points him at the laundry room.
Standout beat“You’re staring again, just like in Cabo,” is the line that says the night is still on.
