What happens in episode 1
Your dad has been gone for two weeks, and your stepmom has broken her leg. He left you in charge of looking after her, so the first half of the episode is all about the basics: she can’t get up on her own, she can’t reach her clothes and she needs to get ready for an appointment.
She asks what you need, and she says that is a dangerous thing to offer her. You worry about leaving her alone, and someone reassures you that she is in good hands and thanks you for taking care of her.
The mood shifts when she calls you over to help with her zipper and admits she can’t manage her bra either. She tells you tonight will be different, because she will need help getting out of her clothes. The episode stops on that line, with the caregiving now heading somewhere else.
