What happens in episode 1
Episode 1 opens inside the royal court, where the king introduces his son to his new wife, Queen Lysandra. The prince has seen her before, though not in person. She is the woman from his dreams, and the scene is built around that uncomfortable recognition.
The court tries to keep things formal. The king is pleased with the match, and everyone is told to accept the marriage. Then an oracle steps forward with a prophecy about a serpent in the royal bed, and the king orders the guards to take her away.
The prince cannot shake the feeling that the oracle is talking about him and the queen. The two of them are left alone, and each admits to dreaming about the other. Neither can explain why it is happening, and the scene ends with the question hanging over the court.
