Under the Chief Episode 1: a last night of probation

Under the Chief opens on Harriet’s last night of probation. A head nurse wants her fired, and the chief of surgery keeps looking her way, which makes the shift feel longer than it should.

Once the floor goes quiet, the chief tells the room that Harriet won’t last the night, then says she is with him tonight. Her scrubs are a size too small, and he tells her they look perfect on her. A reminder about a note for the board comes through, and he tells someone to cancel it. He asks a nurse named Vanessa to keep everyone away from the room.

The episode ends with Harriet wondering whether he would really go through with it. She isn’t sure whether she should tell him to stop, and that is where the free part leaves her.
